The project is now complete, this is the culmination of over 12 weeks of hard work. Personally I feel that both Aaron and I, Edward Robinson, have learnt a lot with this project and will continue with the ideas and concepts. Please see below for some screenshots of the final working product

1st stage. Model seats (2 tiers). tools used

used spline and extruded it

2rd stage. Slice seats for stairs. tools used:

Quick slice tool
convert seats into editable polygon

3rd stage. Extrude stairs. tools used:

Extrude tool

4th stage. finish stairs on 1 half the mirror it on the other side. tools used:

symmetry modifier

5th stage. Create entrance in the seating. tools used:

isolation tool to isolate 1st tier seating
Created box
bolean box from seats

6th stage. Created Olympic logo and wall round the track. tools used:

created a plane.
wall-created 2 rectange strips.
curve wall- used bend modifier
standard primitive-torus for the rings (olympic logo)

These are some early renders

Added bump map on the walls of the stadium. UVW mapping of the track. Produced the track in illustrator then tried to give it some texture in photoshop. Plus added colours to olympic rings and added more poles in the stands.

These sketches are early designs detailing page navigation and layout of how the interactive timeline might look

Transition ideas.

4 unviersal button (possible 5th button for games)

1st button, stadium animates into expanded view.

2nd button, zooms in to a medal stand

3rd button, side onto the side of stadium showing a gallery.

4th button is general information:

-Date built

-Architect

-how long it took to built

5th button might be an olympic game for each stadium.

To create a 3D interactive timeline application, informing and educating users about the history of stadiums used to host the Olympics in Great Britain.

We will Use:
3Ds Max
Adobe Flash
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe After Effects

The final Deliverables will be one embedded flash swf and also, in a group website, the embedded swf file.

This will be completed and presented for the 30th of April 2010.
